LODD 09-15-2007

HUSBAND,   FATHER ,SON,  BROTHER,

 FIREFIGHTER

There is no words you can say to describe William.  William spent many years in the Mocanaqua Fire Dept

Serving as President, Fire Police Captain.  No matter when you needed him he would go above and beyond this day will go on as being the saddest day in our fire career's

A hero falls in the line of duty

Bill McDaniels Sr.  Loved to help people.  Whether he was crossing small children on the way to their school bus, playing Santa Claus for area youngsters, driving the ambulance, or going on fire calls,  Bill was always around.  Bill was well known in Shickshinny and Mocanaqua.  He was one of those people that everyone knew and everyone liked.
Bill had just settled down in his recliner late Saturday afternoon to watch a Phillies game when his pager went off.  There was an automatic fire alarm at the Shickshinny Senior Apartments.  As he always did, Bill dropped what he was doing and went to the firehouse to get on the truck.  What started out as a routine call ended up being a call none of us will forget.  While on scene Bill McDaniels Sr. Was stricken ill.  He was transported to Berwick Hospital where he died a short time later.  Bill went off to battle and never came home.  A hero has fallen.
It was Bills love for life and his love for people that drove him.  There is some comfort knowing that Bill passed away doing what he loved: HELPING PEOPLE.
You read about firefighters dying on the job all too often.  You never expect it to happen here.  The Mocanaqua Volunteer Fire Department is badly shaken.  Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
Bill is survived be his wife, three children and a grandson.  He is also survived by his mother, a brother, four sisters, lots of family and friends.  Please keep them in your prayers.
Bills service to the Shickshinny and Mocanaqua area will be greatly missed.  He touched so many people in so many ways.  Everyone will miss Bill dearly.
    Good-bye, friend.  God Bless You
